farmers markets

Hello All
While I think that farmers markets are useful to farmers and fun for
buyers, I am cautious about recommending them as a primary outlet for produce.
It is very likely that hygiene standards will be much higher in the not too
distant future. If someone starts marketing their produce in a farmers
market first, they may make mistaken assumptions about hygiene standards -
and perhaps be caught by regulatory agencies and fined. Worse yet they may
not appreciate the good reasons for some hygiene standards. If they invest
their time and effort and money in an enterprise, it would be disappointing
to find they had to spend a lot of money to meet the standards just to
continue trading.
regards
David
