The Washington Post has several article in today's Food Section on Farmers'
Markets and the farmers who supply the markets and local restaurants.
The articles can be found on the web at
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/style/restaurants/front.htm

There is a listing of farmers' markets in DC, Maryland, Virginia,
Pennsylvania and West Virginia, and, of more universal interest, stories
about how growers are working together to supply restaurants, what some of
the restaurants have done historically to purchase locally, and the
occasional use of statements such as:

*More and
more, area farmers are
custom-growing specialty fruits and
vegetables for downtown restaurants,
an arrangement that benefits small
farmers struggling to make a go of it,
chefs looking for just-picked flavor and
diners hooked on eating local.*

The case studies of farmers and groups of farmers mimic similar success
stories from throughout the country.
