An assistantship is available through the Department of Horticultural
Science at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC. The title of the
grant-funded project is "Reducing chemical inputs through the use of cover
crops in no-till vegetable production systems". The general focus of this
project will be to investigate management options for optimizing weed
suppression by cover crop mulches. Examples include mixtures vs monoculture
species, manipulation of ratios of legume/cereal mixtures, and type of
mechanical kill.
Funding for this Assistantship is grant supported for 3 1/2 years and includes
stipend, health benefits, and tuition.
