Sorry, Geoff and others! This is one of those Internet e-mail
truncations that's been around since Bill Gates was still dating
that venture capitalist...oh heck, what's her name.... Anyway:

BTW = By the way

> p.s. I managed to figure out IMO and IMHO on my own!

For those who haven't:

IMO = In my opinion
IMHO = In my humble opinion

and then there's

IMNSHO = In my not so humble opinion.

You will also sometimes see:

OTOH = On the other hand
IOW = In other words
ROTFL = Rolled on the floor laughing
IME = In my estimation

and my personal all-time favorite:

YMMV = Your mileage may vary

There are many others, but these crop up the most often. I'm
probably forgetting a few.

And I trust by now but may be wrong that folks who see things like
this:

:^) :^D :^P :^F ;^)

know to tilt their heads to the left and look at these to see the
little faces that indicate the writer is smiling, laughing, etc.

Thanks also for mentioning this in the context of language
difficulties. Excellent point!

peace
misha
