Thank you for bringing this to light, Karen.
As a consumer, not a farmer, I didn't know the difference between
pastured poultry and range-fed. What I have noticed is that the fat of
conventionally grown poultry is a different color than the fat of free
range. Furthermore, free-range poultry is leaner. When I skin and
defat poultry for my family, I do not have over 1/3 of the weight in fat
alone.
Therefore, as a consumer, I believe free range is far healthier than
conventional. We do not have a choice in my area of pastured and
range-fed --only free range and conventional.
