To interested list members: The Cooperative State Research Education and
Extension Service of USDA is currently listing a position of program
specialist in Food Science/Technology at the GS 12 level. To qualify at
this level requires an advanced degree and/or specialized work experience.
This could be an appropriate entry-level job for someone with an advanced
degree.

A brief description of the duties: The incumbent is university trained in
a technical area of agriculture, biological science, physical science, or
natural resources. Under the guidance of National Program Leaders, this
expertise is applied to one or more areas to assist in overall planning,
development, organizing, and management of extension/education and
research programs.
The general programmatic focus is on research/development and education
issues related to food science/technology and food safety. Specific areas
may include, but not be limited to, food chemistry, food quality,
biotechnology, food microbiology, toxicology, food engineering, and
value-added processing of food and non-food products.
