Subject: Hearing on Organic Standards, 3/5/98 New Jersey

Well folks, a few of our local papers covered this quite well. One is
on the web:

http://www.injersey.com/news/story/1,1210,60395,00.html?prev=0+

and the other paper is The Star-Ledger of 3/6/98. Both did a good job
of coverage, I'll post details later.

About 120 people actually spoke; the Hearing went until 7 p.m.
Hundreds more came to rally and show support for REAL organic and that
they are watching everything done at USDA very carefully. The message
was unanimous in criticism, and full of specific comments on proposal
sections. It was clear that the assembled crowd has done a lot of
homework, and they are really angry that it was necessary.
