According to the USDA FoodReview of Dec. 1997, in 1996, on average,
growers received 20.3% of the retail price for fresh vegetables. The
remainder goes to transport, retailer, and any off-farm processing and
storage.
unfortunately, I don't have statistics for any more specific class, or how
that varies by season or location of grower or market.
Betty, where is your farm? I think I've heard of Peters Farm, back when I
worked on a farm in VT, but I don't remember where it was...
