This assumes the EU is *presently* taken seriously, or has been. This
American though finds a robust sense of humor indispensible in coming to
terms with the absurdity of the entire mad rush to globalization, the EU
included. (I am none the less counting on Whatever it is They Do in
Brussels to hold the line against the US when it comes to GMOs.)
