CURRENT BLACK LAND LOSS RATES PREDICT THAT THERE WILL BE NO BLACK OWNED
LAND BY THE YEAR 2000.
THIS MEANS NO BLACK FARMERS!
Discrimination and the "Last Plantation"
In 1920, 1 in every 7 farmers was Black.
In 1982, 1 in every 67 farmers was Black.
In 1910, Black farmers owned 15.6 million acres of land nationwide.
In 1982, Black farmers owned only 3.1 million acres.
In 1984-85, USDA lent $1.3 billion to farmers nationwide to buy land. Of the
almost 16,000 farmers who received these funds, only 209 were Black.
According to numerous documents published in 1965, 1970, 1982, 1990, and 1997
the root of the problems facing the Black farmer is found in the vein of
ruthless political injustice that runs from the local county committee
members and USDA agents to Secretary of Agriculture Dan Glickman and the
PRESIDENTIAL ADMINISTRATION THAT HE REPRESENTS!! The USDA itself has
documented and reported the years of discrimination within and by the agency
in the CRAT Report, February 1997, yet refuses to offer just and deserved
reparations.
As of February 1998, the Department of Justice (DOJ) has issued a "Phantom"
Ruling that no one outside of DOJ or USDA has seen yet on the Statute of
Limitations issue regarding Black farmers. This "Phantom" Ruling is the
current foundation for USDA and DOJ's REFUSAL to settle the Class Action
Lawsuit and other Administrative cases filed by Black farmers.
USDA continues its quest to eradicate the Black farmer and render all African
Americans powerless by stealing their land. We refuse to allow these hate
crimes to continue! Join the Black Farmers' Movement to save the one source
of power for any nation of people: THEIR LAND.
We will meet at 9am outside the Court Building for the 10am court session.
Come and bring friends!
WITHOUT STRUGGLE THERE IS NO PROGRESS!
WITHOUT LAND THERE IS NO POWER!
