TYPE_OF_OPERATION=We are seeking an INTERN or APPRENTICE to help us begin
our organic diversified family farm this year! We have 13 fertile acres
nestled in a beautiful cove in the Cumberland Plateau of south central
Tennessee. Just down the mountain from the University of the South, we
are a reasonable drive from Chattanooga, Nashville and Huntsville, AL.

1998 will be our first year of operation, and we will grow a variety of
vegetables, herbs and flowers to sell directly to consumers at farmer's
markets and our farm stand.

The intern will be provided room, prepared meals, tools, fertile soil, our
expert guidance and use of our extensive library. She or he will also
keep the profits earned in proportion to the time put into the effort. In
return, the intern will contribute her or his fair share of homestead
chores.

DESCRIPTION_OF_OPERATION=Small-scale organic farm growing a variety of
vegetables, herbs and flowers for direct markets via farmer's market and
our farm stand.

FARMING_METHODS=No till, deep mulch, low-tech. methods.

VEGETABLES=A large variety of crops adapted to our climate.

FRUIT=This year: Watermelon and cantelope.
This fall we hope to plant berry bushes and fruit trees.
