Frits;

Not only are MS WORD or other word processor attachments hard for the
recipient to read if they do not use that aprticular processor, but there
are other problems as well.

In particular, is the problem that a MS WORD document can carry a macro
virus (in some cases without the sender even being aware of it) and it can
then infect the MS Word macros on the recipient's system. This is the only
way I know of which a E-Mail message can transmit a virus to another
computer system.

I agree with yuor position. If list members have a document they wish to
share with the ohter list members, it is best to simply convert it into
plain ASCII or DOS Text with line breaks and send it inside the letter.

BTW, ther are Sanet list members using E-Mail providers that do not allow
attachments to be received. JUNO is one of those. There may be others.
