Position For Agricultural Economist:

Position: Agricultural economist, Agricultural Research Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Salary and Grade: GS-11/12 with starting salaries of $39,270/$47,066 plus fringe benefits depending upon qualifications.

Term of Employment: Two years appointment, renewable for another two years, pending satisfactory performance and availability of funds.

Description of Responsibilities: The individual will be working with economists and agricultural scientists at the Beltsville Agricultural Research Center, Beltsville, Maryland, to analyze economic feasibility of technologies developed by ARS scientists (such as sustainable agricultural systems) and trade-offs between economic returns and environmental quality.

Qualifications: (1) a Ph.D. degree in agricultural economics with experience or major course work in resource economics and agriculture-related fields, (2) strong computer and quantitative skills, and (3) good communication skills. Interests or experiences in sustainable agriculture, animal waste management, precision farming, and modeling are desirable.

U.S. citizenship is required.
