If one strickly substituted chemically based pest management practices with
biobased practices, it would not necessarily be compatible with sustainable
agriculture. ie. substitution of a chemical with BT for control of
leptidoptern cabbage pests in a monoculture. pest management practices are
an integral part of sustainable agriculture. Increasing crop diversity,
crop rotation etc.reduces pest pressure and are considered cultural
practices in preventing pest problems. These are examples of sustainable
pest management practices but are they biobased?
