Hi,

I've received the below message from one of our county agents
concerning spinach. I am not able to answer the question and was
wondering if anyone out there may have any suggestions. Thanks for
your help.

Debi:

A producer has a proble with spinach being grown in walkin cold
frames. Raised beds are being used with a nursery cloth with holes
cut in it, covering the beds. There are 2 plants on 6" centers.
Evidently a lack of sunshine and excessive moisture has created the
proper environment for a blue/gray mold to form on the plants.
Treatment must be organic. What can be used to get rid of the
blue/gray mold. Plants are within 2-3 weeks of market. WIll hydrogen
perodixe work? If so, what would be the mixing rate using a 35%
hydrogen peroxide? Would some type of copper mix work? If so, what
material and the mixing rate? Any other solutions? This is a large
income producer for this individual. Any help you can give us will be
much appreciated. Thanks.
