We just placed on the page comments dated 1/12 by Fred Kirschenmann
to OMB/USDA re the Paperwork Reduction Act analysis in the rule. Comments
on this section are due 1/15. Fred makes some very good points, which will
no doubt be amplified in later comments. His other pieces on certification
and GEOs are also very informative.
The number of people seeking information on the organic rule on the
Web is extraordinary. By 1:30 p.m. Pac. Standard Time we had had almost
1,300 accesses on our page just today. Looks like we will have our
first-ever "2,000 accesses in a day."
Documents on the organic rule -- all posted on the page in the last
two weeks -- were the major draw: 7 out of 10 of the most frequently
accessed documents on the page. I have no idea how this has gotten out so
fast.
