This is the annual hear-ye for the UMOFC, Thursday, February 19,
1998, to Saturday, February 20, at Sinsinawa, WI.
Conference theme is: "Sowing the Seeds of Growth."
Friday's and Saturday's workshops cover a wide range of topics, from
production methods to innovative marketing, activism and advocacy to
information systems. As usual, the focus is on sharing hands-on
information. There will be events around the proposed federal rule;
more detail as these are firmed up.
Friday's keynote will be offered by Roger Blobaum, who directs the
Soul of Agriculture project; his topic: "The struggle for the soul
of organic--how can we keep it from becoming what we hoped it would
be an alternative to?"
Saturday's keynote is a panel on the impact of genetically modified
organisms (GMOs) on organic food systems. Panelists are John Fagan,
Jane Rissler, and Tim Sullivan.
