As we work towards cooperative-or communitarian-
effort and support, we must certainly see that we influence
many by our actions within our daily sphere. Family,
community, and organizational ties all offer the chance to
influence others by our conduct and counsel. "A word fitly
spoken . . ." My actions or thoughts may affect someone a great
distance from me (like through a newsgroup, web page, song, or
article), but I feel the greatest responsibility and burden for
those with whom I rub shoulders every day. My hope for change
is (thankfully) not built on my own force of will, but it is sure
bolstered when I find--or nurture--others with a similar
vision.

By the by, this is my first day checking out the group; I found
some archived texts on urban agriculture (my particular interest),
but hope to learn from the broad range of topics discussed.
