Hello fellow saneters,
I am only a visiting subscriber in that I have been reading the
posts for a few weeks now in hopes of getting some information for a
research project for school. I am a journalism student at the University
of Oregon and I am doing a paper on organic farming versus conventional
farming. Now, I have noticed that you all seem to be delving into the
deeper issues facing organic farmers, but I just need the basics. Like
the hows and whys of the benefit of organic over conventional. I am also
a little confused about the difference between sustainable agriculture
and organic. I am just a simple girl with little education on this
subject. But my curiosity and interest continue to grow. My biggest
dilemma is finding an expert source that resides in my area to conduct a
personal interview with. So here's where I was hoping to employ your
assistance. If there is anyone out there that actually lives near Eugene
or knows of an agency or person that you think might be able to help me
out please let me know. I have already contacted Karen Murphy of the
Northwest Coalition for Alternatives to Pesticides and I am
waiting for a response. I have also tried to find information on the
Oregon Office of Organic Farming, does it exist? because I can't even find
a phone number.

Thanks in advance,
Sarah Wells
