Thanks for your much needed comments. It seems to me marketing orders, under
the guise of "comsumer protection," are largely responsible for the
collective belief that, to be wholesome, produce must be totally uniform,
equally (or artificially) colored, and totally unblemished.

I am still amazed at the myth that organically grown produce is small,
bug-eaten, and ugly. Our produce, albeit not uniform, is continually the
best looking stuff in the market - the most colorful, interesting, and
frequently the largest.
