This is one of the downsides to the digest form of a discussion group.
Anyone who receives the digest and uses the reply button will send a
reply with a subject line of sanet-mg-digest V1 #XX, UNLESS they
specifically change the subject line in the reply.
IF you are getting the digest form of sanet-mg, PLEASE CONSIDER changing
the subject line of your reply to (exactly) the subject line of the
message you are replying to. This can be done by cutting and pasting
from the index of your digest, or by typing the subject into your reply.
(Some examples, below).
Perhaps the most important reason to do this is to maintain the integrity
of the sanet-mg archives on the web at
http://www.ces.ncsu.edu/san/htdocs/hypermail/
OR start from the home page (http://www.ces.ncsu.edu/san/) and click on
sanet-mg.
At this site, you can follow the thread of any discussion, PROVIDED that
the subject line remains the same. Take a look at the archives and try
sorting the messages by subject.
Even if you are not using the digest, note that if you change the subject
line in a thread of a discussion, your message will be disengaged from
the discussion when it is archived.
Here's an example from a digest:

There are eight messages in this particular digest.
Each of the 8 messages listed in the Table of Contents would be found, in
its entirety, below the Table of Contents.
The big computer that runs sanet cannot distinguish what message you are
replying to, so it will take the subject line of your reply and begin a
new *thread* of discussion using that subject line.
If you are replying to a digest message, use the subject line EXACTLY as
in occurs in the Table of Contents. For example, Humic acid preparation.
Otherwise, instead of being able to scan the subject lines in the
archives to find a particular message, we will all be faced with an
archive that looks like the following:
