I do NOT use hot water directly on weeds, although I see no reason why
it would not work. I use boiling hot water mixed with Tabasco or other
hot pepper sauces on fire ant mounds. The ants have not returned to my
property for 7 years.

The only drawback is that boiling hot water sterilizes the soil and
kills the vegetation in that particular area.

Still, I would rather have sterilized soil than poisoned soil,
groundwater, and a poisoned environmment.
