Objectives:
- to assess the effect of feeding by C. litura on the growth,
seed production, overwinter survival and vegetative spread
of
Canada thistle growing under field conditions in
competition
with grasses,

- to document the spread of C. litura at the Busby release
site.
(The distance over which the insect has spread is not
known at
present),

- to test the ability of C. litura to transmit the Canada
thistle
rust Puccinia punctiformis.
