Dear Colleague,
The USDA National Research Initiative Competitive Grants Program (NRICGP) will
be supporting a new competitive awards program for Agricultural Systems
research in fiscal year 1994. The NRICGP seeks innovative systems research
that integrates knowledge of individual system elements into a larger
framework for use in analyzing or developing improved agricultural practices.
The proposed research should contribute valuable knowledge for solutions to
problems that may be applied towards achieving either of the following:
1. Identification and adoption of integrated, resource efficient, and
economical agricultural systems that simultaneously maintain
productivity and profitability, and safeguard the environment and human
health.
2. Identification of agricultural systems and policies that strengthen and
revitalize rural communities and regions.
Critiques from reviewers with expertise in specific subject areas will be
critical to the proposal review process.
The NRICGP is seeking potential reviewers for this new program. Serving in
this capacity will not limit your own submission of a proposal to the
program. Your response to the enclosed questionnaire will assist in the
identification of potential reviewers for the Agricultural Systems Program.
Please note that other programs in the NRICGP office may send you a similar
request. Your response to each request will ensure that the information will
be available to each program.
We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge your efforts in the peer
review process. It is only through such commitment that the highest standards
of proposal evaluation are maintained.
Thank you very much.
