I am a Researcher working for AgResearch, a Goverment Research
Organisation in New Zealand.
I am developing a programme looking at improving the
sustainability of our drought prone plains, hill and rangeland
pastoral farming areas in New Zealand. This programme includes
the use of whole farm models which look at production and
financial parametors for decision support and also how climate
variability influences production and economic returns to the
farming unit. I would like to include in my analysis biological
or ecological indicators, as these must be critical to the whole
question of sustainability. I also have an interest in the social
impact of various farming systems on rural communities.
The main farming enterprise is animal grazing, predominantly
sheep, but also beef cattle and deer.
I would be grateful if anyone in the group could help me.
Yours. Mike Daly
