Degree and area of specialization
MA or MS in a social science or a natural science discipline related to
agriculture is required
Minimum number of years and type of work experience
2 or more years of experience in professional outreach activities.
Experience in agriculture and familiarity with the social and technical
aspects of family farming strongly preferred.
Principal duties
1) Play a lead role with other institute extension/outreach staff in
conceptualizing and designing the institute's annual program of
farmer outreach meetings.
2) Work with ATFFI Technical Steering Committee members, county
Extension faculty, local news media, farm organizations, and other
groups in planning and making arrangments for farmer outreach
meetings and other institute-sponsored conferences.
3) Interact with statewide farm media on news releases and prepare
written summaries and reports on farmer outreach meetings.
4) Assist in institute liaison with farm organizations and other groups
interested in family farming in Wisconsin and with legislators, state
agency personnel, and university faculty and staff.
