PROJECT ASSOCIATE
A Project Associate for the recently-funded Kellogg project, Regional
Infrastructure for Sustaining Agriculture (RISA), is being sought. This is a
collaborative project of SANRUE (The Penn State/Rodale Institute Research
Center for Sustaining Agriculture and Natural Resources in Urbanizing
Environments) and the Pennsylvania Association of Sustainable Agriculture.
The Project Associate will be responsible for:
Coordinating Educational Support Activities in support of the following
task areas: Regional Leadership Networks, On-Farm Demonstration, Marketing
Incentives, and Process Documentation.
Supporting the initial assessment phase of the project, the development
of Regional Leadership Networks, and On-Farm Demonstrations.
The individual will be housed at the Berks County Extension Office. This is
planned as a three and three-quarter year project. Qualifications being
sought include the following:
1. Familiarity with the agriculture in Pennsylvania. A dairy
background is preferable.
2. Documentable evidence of self-motivation and the ability to bring closure to
a defined project.
3. Excellent interpersonal skills. This includes being comfortable with people
who have differing philosophy, economic status, and educational
background.
4. Strong writing skills. This person will be writing a regular newsletter and
various other documents relating to the RISA project.
5. A Master's Degree or equivalent with major course work in an
agriculture-related field plus two years of effective experience or
any combination of experience and formalized training which provides
comparable knowledge
