TENTH WORLD FOOD DAY TELECONFERENCE

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The working title of the 1993 World Food
Day teleconference is "Seeds of Conflict: Biodiversity and Food
Security." The safety of global food supplies in the 21st
Century will depend on how quickly and forcefully governments and
the international community act to preserve and protect the
world's plant genetic resource base. Yet this priceless and
irreplaceable heritage of nature is now rapidly shrinking; and
action is delayed by a host of extremely complex issues. These
issues, and the nature of the threat to our future posed by the
frightening pace of genetic erosion, will be weighed by our
international panel of experts and in the World Food Day
telconference study materials.

TARGET AUDIENCE: Universities and colleges and other
institutions interested in hunger and food security issues.
