-- Job Announcement --

*Job Announcement -- The California Coalition for
Pesticide Use Reduction (CPUR), a coalition of six
environmental/ sustainable agriculture organizations
(including PANNA), seeks Coordinator for multi-year,
statewide pesticide reduction effort. Coordinator will
act as CPUR's spokesperson and coordinate CPUR's
meetings, fundraising efforts, research of pesticide-
related issues, coalition building, strategy development
and public outreach. Qualifications: Excellent
communication skills; three years in public-interest
sector; background in environmental, agriculture,
consumer and/or pesticide issues; campaign/media
experience. Timeline: CPUR hopes to hire a Coordinator
as soon as possible. Search will remain open until

*International Conference on Sustainable Urban Food
Systems, May 22-25, 1997.* Centre for Studies in Food
Security, Ryerson Polytechnic University. Conference
will examine range of topics related to urban
agriculture, including urban design, health and
nutrition, and social, environmental, political and
economic issues. Workshops and speakers will focus on
developing conceptual framework for sustainable urban
food systems, stressing connections between local and
global levels of food security. Conference will include

worldwide and forecasts that the number of urban farmers
will double by 2005. Argues that governments should

benefits to food security, waste management and
landscape maintenance. Includes case studies of urban
agriculture policies in Argentina, Chile, Singapore and
