We have used a lot of ISO guidelines in developing our ideas for organic
certification & accreditation of certifying agents. These ideas are very
similar to what the organic community has 'spontaneously' developed
over the years as well. There is increasing use of the type of approach
in things like voluntary quality management programs that various US
govt agencies are exploring as an alternative to mandatory regulatory
control.
