I liked very much the book "Can Japanese Agriculture Survive?" by T.
OGURA , AGRICULTURAL POLICY RESEARCH CENTER, Tokio, 1st ed: 1979 and 3rd
in 1982. By the end of the 1980s this was the most comprehensive book on
the subject written in English. I don't know if there is something more
recent that could be better...Hope this can help.
