apple wood

A grower in Washington State would like to use pruned apple wood (branches
as well as old trees) from large commercial orchards for two purposes:

1. to smoke meats to sell commercially

Question: are there likely to be any problems associated with burning
wood which was previously treated with pesticides for various and sundy
apple pests?

2. chipping and using as a mulch to sell at nursery stores

Question: is there any nutritive value to chipped apple wood?

I thank the list in advance for any information that may be available in
regards to these questions.
