As part of a research project regarding the flexibility in the new farm
bill, I'm looking for data on farmers' use of other flexibility provisions
in previous farm bills: the normal and optional flex acres from the 1990
farm bill, and the 50/92 acres from the 1985 farm bill. For now, I'm
focusing on cotton farmers in California.
My ideal data: annual, by county, number of flex acres and number of 50/92
acres planted to alternate crops on cotton program acreage, and the crops
that were grown instead of cotton.
Has anybody seen this type of data (even if for other crops or states), and
does anybody have a suggestion for where to look?
Thanks in advance,
