If you are an agency or university agricultural professional wanting to learn
more about sustainable agriculture and farmer-based cooperative learning, this
training is for you. Space is available for up to 40 university, Extension,
and other public agency professionals from eastern Washington, Idaho, Montana,
Utah, and Wyoming to participate in this professional development opportunity.
During this workshop you will:
--Learn the basic principles and practice of sustainable agriculture
--Hear firsthand how farmers and ranchers in the Rocky Mountain West are
making a transition to sustainable agriculture
--Tour farms using sustainable agriculture practices
--Work with producers as partners in problem-solving
--Hear from your peers about their work in sustainable agriculture and
collaborative research
--Learn more about the economics of making a transition to sustainable
agriculture
--Receive on-going assistance and support.
This professional development workshop will be participatory and interactive.
It will model cooperative ways of learning, problem-solving and decision
making. Following the event, you will have opportunities to apply what you
learn in a practical setting during the growing season. On-going support and
access to technical resources will be provided by training faculty and other
participants.
Faculty include farmers and ranchers who are successfully using sustainable
agriculture practices, and Extension, NRCS, and research personnel involved in
collaborative projects with producers. .....
