DID YOU KNOW

USDA says it has reduced its pesticide use in its National
Arboretum by three-fourths since implementation of its integrated
pest management program in 1992.

According to the Northwest Area Foundation: global resource use
by humans is growing at about 5.5% each year--at that rate, human
demand on the earth's resources doubles every 13 years; the U.S.
has 4.7% of the world's population, produces 21% of all goods and
services, uses 25% of all processed mineral resources and energy,
and generates 25% of the world's pollution and trash.

April 22 is the 26th anniversary of Earth Day.

A Jan. 22, 1996 U.S. News & World Report article said in 1988 7%
of the nation's hogs were raised in factory farms compared to 17%
today.
