The Pew Charitable Trusts seeks a Ph.D.-level agricultural economist or
scientist as a full time consultant to develop an implementation plan for a
new national center that will conduct and document large-scale best farming
practices programs in partnership with agricultural cooperatives, commodity
boards, food companies and other agricultural entities. Candidates should
have experience working with US agribusiness/grower organizations. The first
year will be devoted to selecting potential projects; negotiating the scope
of each project with the partners; finalizing center structure and
identifying staff.
Upon successfully securing two initial projects, support for a four year
project will be recommended. The Director's responsibilities will expand to
include hiring and managing a team of professionals and support staff;
negotiating additional projects; overseeing the budget and project
administration; forming an advisory council; and serving as the primary
spokesperson and liaison with the academic community, media, and agencies.
