Kline Kill Organic Gardens, a 4½-acre certified organic market garden,
offers an apprenticeship and is a part of CRAFT, Collaborative Regional
Alliance for Farmer Training. CRAFT is a group of 13 small farms in the
eastern NY/western Massachusetts area whose apprentices meet twice monthly
for educational workshops at the CRAFT farms. In addition to the
opportunity to participate in the CRAFT series, the KKOG apprentice would
be provided with room, board and a monthly stipend from June through
October. Although there is no deadline for applications, we encourage you
to respond as soon as possible if you are interested.

KKOG is located in Chatham, NY, on land rented from Joe and Beth Gilbert;
the Gilberts own and operate The Berry Farm, a 15-acre IPM berry operation
and farm stand. In addition to supplying The Berry Farm stand, KKOG serves
co-operative markets, other farm stands, restaurants and retreat centers
with biodynamically grown produce (we are in the process of applying for
Biodynamic certification). We have also donated food to local fundraising
dinners. In this, our second year of production, we hope to begin building
a network of customers around the farm that will enable us to move towards
a community-supported model during the 1997 season.
