FACULTY AND FRIENDS OF THE NORTH CENTRAL INSTITUTE FOR SUSTAINABLE SYSTEMS
Greetings. Please mark your calendars now for the first official activity
of NCISS. On Friday 12 April, from 11 to 1 central time, we will broadcast
via satellite the first of two conferences aimed at preparing our faculty
to teach sustainability at a distance. The broadcast will originate live
from the ADEC facilities on the campus of the Univ. of Nebraska-Lincoln.
We are still working on content, so any suggestions, personal
contributions, or needs you would like addressed would be welcomed. As soon
as we have the full program fleshed out we will create a special area at
the NCISS Web site for you to consult and utilize for preparing and
following up on the conference. We expect that this will be soon, and we
will notify you when this is ready via this mailing list. In addition, we
will also use this mailing list to host discussion on the topics raised at
the conference.
We wanted to give you this notice so that you could hold this date and time
on your calendars. We will show and demonstrate various current and
emerging techniques for interactivity at a distance and provide room for
discussion and feedback. Even though we will tape the conference, you will
get the most if you are able to participate and interact live.
The primary audience for this conference is our faculty, but others with
interest and expertise in education, distance learning and sustainability
are welcome to join. ADEC has already sent out publicity to Extension
personnel around the country, but unfortunately the date they published was
wrong. Please do your best to communicate correct details about this
conference to colleagues whom you think would benefit.
