Rock powders

I would like to hear from anyone who has information on rock powders as
soil supplements. In particular, I need to supplement Phosphate, and am
wondering what rock powder would be appropriate. The quarries in my Montana
small town area do not seem to be familiar with this, though I wonder if
some of their by-products wouldn't be suitable. I am aware of a couple
companies that sell it in small bags for quite alot of money, but I would
be interested in a more bulk, cost effective approach. I am also interested
in comments as to whether they truly are less damaging than conventinal
inorganic phosphates.
