Agricultural Project Coordinator Needed
The Illinois Stewardship Alliance (ISA) has an immediate opening
for the position of Project Coordinator for the Farming
Systems Comparison and Cover Crop Screening Projects. These
Projects are to be conducted at the Stewardship Farm near Cerro
Gordo, in East Central Illinois. The Farming Systems Comparison
Project will compare agronomic, environmental and social aspects of
organic, no-till and conventional farming systems.
ISA has been awarded three years of funding to conduct these
projects. The position will pay $12,000 per year for half time
employment or the equivalent of 20 hours per week. Work loads may
vary depending on seasonal time demands.
The ideal candidate will be familiar with scientific research
concepts, alternative agriculture production systems, environmental
issues and be able to make presentations to groups. The applicant
must be highly self motivated and able to work under minimal
supervision.
Responsibilities of the Project Coordinator include the following:
-Take measurements, record and analyze data from farming systems
(yields, costs, input quantities, net economic returns, residue
cover, groundwater nitrate concentrations, etc.)
-Collect data from cover crop screening project
-Compile database of interested individuals for distribution of reports
-Plan and oversee field days concerning the projects
-Develop Educational Materials for reports
-Conduct tours and meet with interested groups
-Have vehicle available for use (reimbursed at $0.31 per mile)
