*1994 Pesticide Program Residue Monitoring, 1995.* U.S.
Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Summarizes methods
and results of FDA's pesticide residue monitoring
program and lists pesticides and commodities that were
investigated. Identifies pesticides found as residues
and presents food contamination data by state and

*1993 California Pesticide Illness Surveillance Program
Summary Report, 1995.* California Department of
Pesticide Regulation (DPR). Describes Pesticide Illness
Surveillance Program procedures and presents 1993
findings, including pesticides that caused
illness/injuries, types of illness/injuries suffered,
routes of exposure, occupation of injured individuals
and location of illness/injuries by county. Reports that
DPR identified 1,435 injury/illnesses that were
possibly, probably or definitely related to pesticide
exposure, and states that agriculture accounted for
approximately one-third of occupational exposures. 50

*Office of Pesticide Programs Annual Report for 1995,
1995.* Presents overview of program accomplishments,
stressing relatively large number of new active
ingredient registrations and trend toward more "reduced
risk products." Describes procedures involved in
registration, reregistration, Special Review and various
field programs, including endangered species protection
program, groundwater program and certification of
pesticide applicators. Emphasizes steps being taken to
improve safety and communications in range of areas,
including protection for infants and children,
cooperation with developing countries, electronic
dissemination of information and integrated pest
management. Includes list of all new pesticide

pesticide reregistration process and describes status of
pesticides undergoing reregistration and in Special
Review. Lists pesticides with proposed cancellations or
tolerance revocations and summarizes Reregistration

*Regional Food Systems Research: Needs, Priorities and
Recommendations, 1995.* Center for Integrated
Agricultural Systems. Presents findings and
recommendations from series of seminars focused on
creating sustainable food systems and food security in
Wisconsin region. Stresses need for further analyses of
local and regionally based food networks in terms of
energy use, nutrition, consumer awareness and local
economies. Recommends further investigations of food
security in low-income urban neighborhoods in Wisconsin.
