Sustainable Northwest has put out a call for recommendations of individuals,
groups or communities working to secure both economic and environmental
health in Northwest communities as "Founders of a New Northwest". The
purpose of the Founders program is to provide recognition to those who have
been pioneering ways to promote local economic and environmental health and
to link their projects to other efforts throughout the region.

Those selected as Founders will receive a certificate of recognition and
profiles of their work will be distributed through the regional news media.
Sustainable Northwest will also share their stories with other communities
and individuals embarking upon environmentally sound economic development
projects.

The Founders of a New Northwest project is co-sponsored by the Oregon Rural
Development Council, the Center for Rural Revitalization and Learning at
Idaho State University, the University of Washington's Northwest Policy
Center, and Oregon State University's Sustainable Forestry Partnership.

First round of nomination forms are due March 31. To receive a nomination
form and/or additional information about the Founder of a New Northwest
program and Sustainable Northwest, please contact Sustainable Northwest at
503/221-6911 or myself (see below).

Thank you.
