Dr. Prentiss de Jesus,
I came across your message on the sanet news group and thought I would
send a brief reply. I am interested in the issues of low external input
agriculture development, forestry- especially indigenous technical
management and indigenous knowledge of forest ecology, and
non-traditional export sector of sustainable forest resource extraction.
I have worked, briefly, in El Salvador (Morazon), have visited
Guatemala and Honduras, and worked for 6 months in Belize. I am fluent in
Spanish. Recently finishing a M.S. in International Agricultural
Development at the University of California at Davis, I am very 'current'
in the literature of development, agro-ecology, and conservation.
My fiance is an anthropologist interested in agriculture and gender
issues in the devloping world. We have both been involved throughout the
project cycle on a very successful USAID funded conservation and
devlopment project in Northern Uganda, part of the 'Action Program for
the Environment'. The funding cycle for that project will be finished in
about six months, and so we are looking for another project. Something
closer to home (California) would be nice.
If you are looking for a dynamic couple with strong backgrounds in
Agriculture/Ecology and Anthropology please resond with a more detailed
description of the project you are putting together.
