Greetings to SANET subscribers:

Please be advised of a funding opportunity: The Fertilizer Research and
Education Program (FREP) of the California Dept. Food and Agriculture is
soliciting suggestions for research, demonstration and education projects
to advance the environmentally safe and agronomically sound use and
handling of fertilizer materials. CDFA/FREP has supported 44 projects in
the last 5 years, most dealing with increasing fertilizer use efficiency
and preventing nitrate contamination of groundwater in California's
multiple cropping systems. Projects should be of practical relevance to
California growers. Project suggestions due Feb. 21, 1996.

whether it matches program goals and current priorities. If a project
suggestion is selected, program staff will provide proponents with
guidelines to prepare a detailed proposal. Selected project suggestion
topics will be listed in the Request for Proposals (RFP) and advertised in
the State Contracts Register. A limit of $30,000 per year per project is
suggested, but larger projects will be considered.
