Interesting comments from Ames et al. May I redirect the enquiry
somewhat to ask - OK, do we KNOW enough to know how much is too much
reliance to put on biocides? Let's take a current example with BT-
genes into crop plants. Only some crops - only some acreage - in
only some areas will be affected - right? What will this portend for
the development of resistant biotypes that will then descend on other
growers - who didn't use the genetically engineered material in the
first place? What will be the dollar savings, and for how long,
compared to the dollar cost - (forever?) - attributed to the loss of
this most useful product - WHEN USED PROPERLY?

I repeat - DO WE KNOW ENOUGH to use these products sustainably? Ann
