I'm seeking information on Stone Pines for Pine nut production. In
particular I would like details about:
preferred soil types (pH fertility, structure etc)
climatic requirements (rainfall, amount and distribution, max& min
temps, humidity
cultural techniques for maximum seed set including plant spacing and
fertiliser practices
cultivars and seed suppliers
cone and nut harvesting techniques
pests and diseases
research in progress
I started trialling stone pines two years ago as a potential agroforestry
crop and have been surprised at the lack of available information. Any thing
would be appreciated.
