PURPOSE
IPM Symposium/Workshops are held every two years to provide an opportunity
for interdisciplinary scientists to exchange current advances in IPM
research, education, implementation and program assessment. This
Symposium/Workshop will focus on the USDA IPM Initiative, the process for
reaching the goal of IPM implementation on 75% of the nations crop acres
and for assessing the public policy impacts of this national goal.
PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
Tuesday, February 27
8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Workshop on Team Building for IPM Planning and
Implementation.

1:00 p.m - 5:30 p.m. Plenary Session.
This Session will focus on the USDA IPM Initiative and
understanding the needs for IPM implementation from the
perspective of farmer, consumers, and cop consultants.
7:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. Mixer. The mixer will be held in the exhibit area
and will feature "heavy hors d'oeuvres." No one will need to go out to
eat. Punch and soft drinks will be complimentary and a cash bar will be
available. This should be an excellent opportunity to meet with friends
and make new ones.
Wednesday, February 28
8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Symposium on the economic,
environmental, public health and social impacts of IPM
adoption.
4:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Concurrent Sessions.
Thursday, February 29
8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Workshop on Essential Economics for IPM
Assessment.

8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Concurrent Sessions.
11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Workshop on Pest Management Decision Support
Software.
1:15 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Commodity Workshops. These workshops will focus on
IPM implementation planning for corn/soybeans, cotton, forage crops, tree
fruits, nursery and ornamental crops, potato, vegetable crops, wheat and
urban arthropod pests.
Friday, March 1
8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. General Session focusing on the future of IPM
including emerging, political and budgetary issues.
POSTERS: The poster exhibit area will be available to set up posters from
10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Posters will
be available for viewing from 7:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday and from
8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday.
Remember, poster abstracts are due January 15, 1996 in proper format.
REGISTRATION
The fee for the conference is $175.00. Your completed registration must
be received by FEBRUARY 19, 1996. Cancellations must be received in
writing by February 19. In the event of a cancellation, a $25 fee will be
charged.
On-Site Services
For your convenience, the Registration and Information Desk will be open
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Monday; 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday,
Wednesday, Thursday; and 7:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on Friday.
USDA Graduate School staff will be available to take messages for you.

ACCOMMODATIONS
The Sheraton Washington has a block of 500 rooms reserved for IPM
attendees. The rates, including tax, are: $114.50 single, $148.40
double. These rooms are reserved on a first come, first served basis. In
order to get the special room rate, you must make your reservations by
FEBRUARY 3, 1996.
Please complete the Hotel Reservation Form in this brochure and mail it
directly to the hotel. If you phone in your reservation, please be sure
to identify yourself as an IPM attendee.
All room reservations must be guaranteed. If you need to cancel your
room, please do so 72 hours in advance of your arrival to avoid being
charged. Check in time is 3 p.m.
TRANSPORTATION AND PARKING
The Sheraton Washington is conveniently located on the Metro Red Line
(Woodley Park - Zoo Station), in northwest Washington, D.C. The hotel is
accessible by taxi or shuttle service from each of the three airports in
the Washington area. Parking is $12 per day.
