Dear Sanetters,
I'm after information regarding the proportion of government
science research funding given over to projects with a sustainable
agriculture focus. I am also interested to know how this money is split
among the various endeavours that might fall under the banner of (supposedly)
sustainable agriculture e.g. how much is given to projects involved in
genetic engineering of crop plants c.f those dealing with, let's say, IPM or
minimum tillage agriculture. As a comparison, I'd also be interested in
finding out the research budgets of some of the larger agrochemical
corporations, the major focus of their research, and the degree to which they
fund supposedly sustainable ag. projects. Is this a naiive request? Am I
asking to much of you sus. ag. folk? I don't know. Any info or help that
could be passed my way would be greatly appreciated. This research is for
a paper I propose to give at a forthcoming workshop dealing with conservation
priorities. My focus is on conservation and agriculture.

Many thanks,
