Abusing their Access?, 1995.* Women's Environment and
Development Organization (WEDO). Examines role of TNCs
at the UN, and discusses how TNCs use and abuse their
power. Provides brief case studies of how TNC strategies
have weakened UN activities, including TNC involvement
in Climate Convention, Prior Informed Consent procedure
in the FAO International Code of Conduct on the
Distribution and Use of Pesticides, and Montreal

1995.* Peter Cooper and Lori Wallach. Identifies
specific job-creation promises made during Congressional
NAFTA debates by pro-NAFTA U.S. companies, and
investigates whether promises have been fulfilled.
States that NAFTA has not delivered the promised jobs,
and that real wages for Mexican workers have declined.
Primary focus is on manufacturing industries, but

Canada-United States Trade Agreement (CUSTA) Technical
Working Group (TWG) on Pesticides. Reports on work done
by CUSTA TWG, formed in 1988 by Canada and U.S. to work
toward equivalency of pesticide standards and regulatory
processes. States that TWG has been instrumental in
promoting harmonization between Canada and U.S. through
development of opportunities for public involvement,
strengthened binational communications and harmonization
