I've read the Farm Bureau discussion thread with interest. What seems to
have emerged is that broad generalizations about any group (e.g., Farm
Bureau, environmentalists) break down when we start looking at the
particular situation.
Case in point included here, fyi:
LEOPOLD CENTER BOARD MEMBER ELECTED TO FARM BUREAU
Leopold Center Advisory Board member Sally Puttmann has become the first
woman ever elected to the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation Board of Directors
with elections announced at the late November annual Farm Bureau meeting.
Puttmann, who farms at rural Kingsley, will serve a three-year term as
director of District 4, which covers 11 counties in west central Iowa. She
replaces Ed Wiederstein, who assumed the presidency of Iowa Farm Bureau.
She serves as a farmer representative on the Center's Advisory Board, and
on the Iowa Environmental Council's Water Quality committee.

Best wishes for the holidays,
